Wisp Dance
At the beginning, I was very happy to try something different with the camera angle, just to give the feeling of some wisps dancing over a swamp, whirling back and forth.
I also wanted to use analogous colors for the swamp landscape, from violet-blue to blue-green. So, I set up some "rules" to follow. I observed that the other two paintings looked very crowded. I wanted this painting to have a simpler look, with only a prominent camera angle, a limited color palette, and the wisps in the center.
For me, analyzing my previous paintings and writing down what bothers me is an effective way to address and try to solve those problems. I also look at inspirational paintings from other artists and write down what I really like about them, especially the fundamentals, not the style. I admire the styles of others, but I don’t want to learn how to paint like those artists—I just want to find out why the composition is so effective, for example.
At the moment, I'm deeply focused on the fundamentals and am not sure if that keeps me from being more relaxed while painting. I think I have to find out in which direction I want to go.
Soo… my husband's album is out now 😊 I'm really proud of him because I know how much work it took, and there is still a lot to do.
This painting is for his song "Wisp Dance."
